#1: Szabó’s Damm

Many memorials speak to the importance of the Siege of Budapest.

#2: Műcsarnok Museum

Designed by Hungarian architect László Hudec, this Budapest museum brings together old and new, from the medieval Matthias Church to contemporary art.

Located on the bank of the Danube, this multi-tiered structure has many stories and a beautiful interior courtyard. The permanent art collections include over 3,000 pieces from Europe, America, and Asia representing historical and contemporary periods.

#3: The Royal Palace

Designed by Italian architect, Ányos Jedlik in 1851, the Budapest Royal Palace is often called “the city’s second heart.”This is because itt served as Hungary’s Parliament during WWII and still does today for ceremonial occasions.

This beautiful building has a lot to offer: surrounded by gardens that have been tended since 1630, there are two museums inside which document all of Napolean’s advances with history books telling about the significant role it played in his final defeat at Austerlitz!

The Hungarian National Museum is the institution responsible for preserving and promoting Hungary’s history.

It was founded in 1847 by Károly Lotz, a painter who also served as its first director until his death eight years later due to cholera.

#9: Danube Cruise

Trevi Italy is a spectacular little corner of Tuscany I’ve been lucky enough to be close to since moving here several years ago.

I had my first experience of Trevi way back when I took a short break from teaching in Florence to go and work in a local printing factory near Trevi and Polegato.

I worked there for a couple of years, first as an assistant for a young printer who had just opened a new factory there and later managing his entire department.

It was great fun, at times, to see all the printers running around doing their thing, but it became exhausting after a while. So I saved my money to take a short vacation to Tuscany and explore this beautiful little corner I’d never been to before.

Medieval Hill Town

Trevi is an old medieval town in Umbria, Italy on the eastern side of Monte Serano overlooking the Po River and the sandy plain of the Cliunctiono Della Madiondo. It’s 10 kilometers SSE of Foligno and about 20 kilometers north of Spoleto.

There is a bus route to take you to Trevi and the nearest hotel is the Arco di Trevi, which is around two miles from the center of Trevi.

The Chestnut-Mandibled Toucan or the Swainson’s Toucan is a sub-species of the common yellow-throated toucan that breeds in central Honduras to central Colombia to central Ecuador.

The Swainson’s are very similar to both the blue-winged toucan and the black-chinned toucan. They are small-sized birds with muscular necks, short heads, short wings, a narrow neck and head, prominent cheek patches, white or red rings around their eyes, and white belly and blackish wings.

The chestnut-Mandibled toucan is closely related to the Swainson’s but differs in the amount of white on the breast.

The Swainson’s have very few or none at all, and the chestnut-Mandibled toucan has a yellow, white patch on its breast. The Swainson’s are more brownish and have a white belly compared to the chestnut-Mandible.

These birds breed in tropical rainforests and scrub and inhabit mostly in trees and undergrowth, and are primarily found in Central and South America.
